This annual community celebration of Secretariat’s birthday (March 30, 1970) takes place around the Secretariat monument and Reynolds Family Plaza area on the campus of Randolph-Macon College in Downtown Ashland.
The festivities will include a brand new kickoff ceremony featuring the Ashland Dance Academy, a “Meet the Minis” corral of miniature horses from the Triple Crown 4-H Club, new Secretariat merchandise, live music, local food trucks and vendors, free birthday cake, a talk on “Virginia’s Horse Racing History” at the Ashland Theatre, followed by a free showing of the Disney movie Secretariat.
There will be lots of games and crafts for kids, including a fun educational program called “Secretariat and Me” sponsored by the Ashland Museum.
